What does “GREENVANA” mean?

green· va·na   [green-vah-nuh]
An ideal state of peace, harmony, happiness and environmental sensibility.

GREENVANA is incorporating both of these concepts into our business. We strive to have eco-friendly bamboo & organic cotton clothing that leaves a lasting impression and helps others.

Why bamboo?

That is a GOOD question. It takes around ¼ lb of fertilizers and pesticides to make ONE cotton T-shirt!! Cotton is the second largest crop in the United States and consumes 10% of the world's pesticides and 25% of the world's insecticides. Consumers are taking a closer look at the foods they eat to ensure they are ingesting as little chemicals as possible, which is great. But, we have been neglecting the importance of keeping our largest organ healthy and chemical-free -- our SKIN.

Bamboo grows like a weed with little water (usually just rain water) and without the need for chemicals. Bamboo is a sustainable and renewable resource, in fact, it has been recorded as growing nearly 4 feet in one day. Bamboo is much softer than traditional cotton and has been compared to silk and cashmere. Trust us…the first time you wear it, it will remind you of your favorite T-shirt you’ve had forever. Bamboo also wicks moisture, is antibacterial and naturally offers UV protection. Thanks to its hypoallergenic properties, bamboo fiber is perfect for baby's sensitive skin.

Our Products

Our products are made using natural fibers and eco-friendly dyes and inks. Our bamboo clothing is 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton. I know, I know…we just went on and on about how horrible cotton is, but ORGANIC cotton is different. Organic cotton, as you could conclude, is grown without the use of pesticides and insecticides. And organic cotton is usually rain-fed, not irrigated, so it uses a lot less water.

Why is the environment important to us?

Earth is our home, our only home. We need to take care of our home. We are already feeling the harmful effects humans have inflicted on this beautiful planet of ours. SCIENTISTS have for the first time found evidence that polar bears are drowning because climate change is melting the Arctic ice shelf. We have seen evidence that global warming is real and is happening, just take a look at Earth from space. Bamboo absorbs nearly 5 times the amount of greenhouse gases and produces 35% more oxygen than the same amount of trees. It is critical in the fight to end global warming. We can make a change, but it is going to require help from everyone. We can improve things one bamboo t-shirt at a time.
